Around here, March and April are for getting your wood pile into shape for next winter. All across the harbour we hear the chainsaws buzzing away.
I can hear Greg's chainsaw, too, down near the fish house, where most days now he is out felling spruce. He cuts the trunks into logs and loads them onto his cart and pulls them up to the wood pile, where he splits them and stacks them.
So far he has stacked between one and two cords. Only eight or so cords to go. Not bad, really, since he is providing all the heat for the house.
