In May 2011, after four years of life on McNutt's Island, we moved to Montreal. This blog remains, though, as a (sort of) daily record of our time on the island, and a winding path for anyone who would like to meander about among its magical places. For additional perspectives and insights I recommend Greg's book, Island Year: Finding Nova Scotia (2010), and my Bowl of Light (2012). I'll continue to post once in a while. If you do want to read this blog, one option would be to begin at the beginning of it (which is, as we all know, in blog-world, at the end), and read forward, concluding with the most recent entry. It's a journal, really, so it does makes more sense if you read it that way. But, you know, read it any way you like.

time to celebrate

I'm so glad to have completed the history of the lighthouse and the island. It's ready to send off to the folks at The Nova Scotia Museum, who so kindly granted me research funds for the project a little over a year ago.  I hope I'll be able to share it more widely eventually, in some format or another. But for now, it's good to be finished.

Hopefully your work on the history of the island and lighthouse will reach publication- I would be interested in reading it. Your husband's book was fascinating on the island and your time there. Is anyone living there now or does your house sit empty? Do you ever see yourselves going back?

Forrest, Thanks for writing. I'm glad you liked Greg's book! The house sits empty again, and we won't be going back to the island -- but we had a pretty amazing time there.
