In May 2011, after four years of life on McNutt's Island, we moved to Montreal. This blog remains, though, as a (sort of) daily record of our time on the island, and a winding path for anyone who would like to meander about among its magical places. For additional perspectives and insights I recommend Greg's book, Island Year: Finding Nova Scotia (2010), and my Bowl of Light (2012). I'll continue to post once in a while. If you do want to read this blog, one option would be to begin at the beginning of it (which is, as we all know, in blog-world, at the end), and read forward, concluding with the most recent entry. It's a journal, really, so it does makes more sense if you read it that way. But, you know, read it any way you like.

passenger cart

Greg's been building a cart. Well, he has wanted one of his own since our very first ride in Skipper's, three years ago. It's a most useful thing to have, if you have a few people you want to take somewhere.
So Skipper welded the frame for him about a year ago, and found the bus seats for it, somewhere. If you look closely you can figure out what the roof framework was before it became a roof.
Then it sat, a cart skeleton, parked, waiting for the next stage in its life. This spring Greg did the carpentry and the painting, and the scenes of life on McNutt's.
We are looking forward to having visitors this summer so we can cart them about so fancily.

I want one!!!! Seriously the best public transit I've seen yet!! Tell Greg how appreciated his folk art is by this longtime collector - Lol.
And wonderful pictures of the lambs too - that was quite a storm here, as well.

Wow! An authentic McNuttmobile! I love it. It is sure to be a big hit, and everyone will want to have their photo taken in it, even if not actually going anywhere.

Love the cart, what gorgeous colours. Lovely blog. I'm planning to retire to Nova Scotia from the UK next year, so will be keeping up with your blog for inspiration!
